“Goodbye,” is a song I wrote inspired by the relationship of the characters, Tris and Four, in Veronica Roth’s Divergent book series. Of course, it also came out of my own experience with how hard it can be to say goodbye, even if that’s the way it’s meant to be.

I'm a singer songwriter, from Chicago, now a Sophomore at Belmont University in Nashville. I love writing music and reading dystopian novels.

I wish I could hold you forever
And keep you safe within my arms
But we both know that you weren’t meant to hold on to
No matter how hard I try
And we both know that you were meant for something bigger
You were meant to fly

But now I’m just standing here alone
Wondering bout the last time we said goodbye
Was it really so long ago
I guess so

I can’t seem to find my breath
I think you took it when you left
And I may seem like someone brave
But that’s really all a lie
Cause when I turn off all the lights
I just cry

I can’t live this way,
Just counting the days
I’m stuck in this place because you can’t be replaced
I can’t live this way
